The 3D printer manufacturer Bambu Lab has introduced the free online tool “Pixel Puzzle Maker“. This is a simple web application that helps to create a 3D-printed pixel puzzle.
The user uploads an image, which is then converted into a kind of “pixel art”. As the title image shows, these should be simple graphics. The “Pixel Puzzle Maker” then creates cube models for each pixel. You can choose between 8 mm and 4 mm blocks. You can also define the number of blocks (16 x 16 or 24 x 24 for 8 mm cubes).
After uploading the image, you can crop the photo, remove the background and zoom in. The user then has a preview of the “Pixel Art”. In the last step of the image processing you have the possibility to adjust the colors of the cubes.
Finally, you have to select your Bambu Lab 3D printer and the tool creates the 3D models, which are made available in .3mf format.
