Meltio presents industrial metal 3D printer M600 with large build volume

Spanish 3D printer manufacturer Meltio has announced the launch of its new M600 machine. According to the manufacturer, the new Meltio M600 is designed to solve the problems of long lead times, costly warehousing and increasingly fragile supply chains.

As the company explains, the 3D printer is a new generation wire laser metal deposition technology. The Meltio M600 metal 3D printer is designed to make printing large metal parts easier and more reliable and is tailored to the needs of industrial manufacturing with 24/7 production cycles.

The M600 system also has a large build envelope of 300 x 400 x 600 mm and is the first to use blue diode lasers with a total output of 1,000 watts. The shorter wavelength improves energy absorption and increases the printing speed, while increasing energy efficiency. This means that even highly reflective materials such as copper and aluminum alloys can be processed efficiently.

“The combination of wire feed, blue lasers, a large inert build space and intelligent sensors enables the M600 to process even the most demanding materials such as titanium, copper and aluminum alloys,” says the company. The material properties of the printed components are said to be comparable to conventionally manufactured parts.

A unique selling point is the factory alignment of the deposition head, which reduces the adjustment effort. Sensors monitor the printing process and increase reliability. Thanks to the pre-installed solution for non-contact workpiece measurement and support for various clamping solutions, the M600 can be seamlessly integrated into existing production environments.

The system is designed to work easily with CNC machines. It can be used not only to print complete parts, but also to add features to existing components or repair surfaces.

The high level of automation and the Meltio slicing software “Horizon” should also ensure a smooth, user-friendly process. The cement company Cementos La Cruz is already using the M600 to produce a stainless steel nozzle for more sustainable components.
