OrcaSlicer 2.0: Beta version of the slicer software shows a range of new features

The popular slicing program OrcaSlicer has introduced a comprehensive update with version 2.0.0 (beta). The new version brings numerous new features and improvements designed to make 3D printing more efficient and the results higher quality.

One highlight is the “Scarf Joint Seam” function. This is an innovative approach to making seam marks almost invisible during FDM printing. The implementation comes from Noisyfox, a core developer of OrcaSlicer.

Another new feature is the so-called “Small Area Flow Compensation”. This function is designed to prevent oversizing in small areas by reducing the material flow. Improved gap filling thanks to a new application strategy and direct support for adaptive bed measurement via G-code commands from various firmware solutions also ensure better print quality.

Practical new features include the integration of the 3D navigator for an extended model view and the option to customize the print sequence of objects.

Many other detailed improvements, bug fixes and enhancements round off the extensive update. These include optimized print time estimation, import optimizations for STEP files and adjustments to existing functions such as print tower creation or contour smoothing.

All changes and the download of the beta version can be found here.
