YouTuber develops 3D Printed Cigarette Stuffing Machine

The YouTuber named Fraens, from whom we have featured several projects, has realized a fully automatic cigarette stuffing machine using 3D printing. Tobacco sticks are stuffed into prefabricated tubes and compressed.

Fraens says the project was a major challenge. He invested over hundreds of hours in design, printing, programming and testing. The centerpiece is a lever mechanism that generates large pressing forces. A pusher then pushes the tobacco into the sleeve.

An Arduino and various sensors and drives are used for automation. The tubes are inserted into a magazine and processed one after the other. The tobacco is also automatically fed and metered.

According to Fraens, the unusual machine is primarily intended to motivate people to explore the possibilities of 3D printing. He makes the building instructions and STL files available at 3DCults.
