AI-generated 3D models for 3D printing put to the test

In recent weeks, we have reported on various AI services that can generate 3D models based on text commands or 2D images. Most services of this kind are still in a beta phase and the results should therefore still be taken with a grain of salt.

YouTuber Uncle Jessy now tested the 3DMaker.AI service, which we recently featured in an article. The promise of the service is that 2D images are converted into 3D models with just a few clicks. While many such AI tools charge monthly fees, 3DMaker.AI only charges a fee for generated 3D models. The standard model costs $25 and the premium version costs $40.

In its testing, Uncle Jessy notes that the quality of the models depends on the nature of the source images and that post-processing is required before 3D printing. Although the models are not print-ready, the YouTube sees 3DMaker.AI as a useful tool for beginners in 3D modeling.

In the video, you can see how the service works and what the results and 3D prints look like.
