Altair introduces new version of its HyperWorks CAE software

US software company Altair has unveiled the latest version of its HyperWorks computer-aided engineering (CAE) platform. According to the manufacturer, HyperWorks 2023 will set new standards in the field of simulation and virtual prototyping with extensive improvements in user-friendliness and performance.

A modern user interface is said to simplify operation and facilitate access to the various simulation tools. Interoperability and multitasking capabilities are said to make it possible to implement complex workflows more quickly. According to Altair, the open architecture also enables good integration of third-party software.

Another focus is on applying AI methods to automate processes and make large-scale simulations more efficient. Simulations can be managed centrally via the Altair Simulation Cloud Suite. The topic of generative design and topology optimization has also been expanded.

The various modules of HyperWorks, such as OptiStruct or AcuSolve, have been provided with new functions. Particularly highlighted is the first version of HyperMesh CFD, which is designed for external aerodynamics simulations.

According to Altair CEO James Scapa, HyperWorks 2023 represents a “groundbreaking” milestone that will give users more flexibility and power for simulation and virtual product development. Whether the extensive new features deliver on this promise remains to be seen in practice.
