Golden Bust of Edward Snowden Shines Next to Austrian Parliament

Niko Alm of the Austrian political party NEOS unveiled a golden bust of NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden next to the Austrian Parliament.

In doing so, the party intents to oppose a state protection law to be passed by the Austrian Parliament in two weeks and protests against general surveillance of people by the state. The NEOS demand for the draft of the law to be revised.

The 3D model of the bust has been created by Andrew Tider and Jeff Greenspan, who erected a 1.2 meter-high bronze-plated statue of Edward Snowden in Brooklyn, which was soon after removed by the police.

Jeff Greenspan explained in an interview to Wired: “We wanted to raise this question, whether the people you’ve been told are heroes are heroes or whether your enemies are really enemies … How your ideas are being massage and manipulated.”

Greenspan then published the 3D model of the bust on Thingiverse, so everyone can 3D print their own copy.
